So today me and a buddy headed to Taryall, forgetting they are closed Tuesday and Wednesday during the year. So took a detour and headed to Spinney Reservoir. Between the both of us caught 48 fish. 2 Pike, 2 Brown trout and the rest were Rainbow and Cuttbows. Fish sizes were 12″-20″ and all had a lot of fight in them. Great day on the lake. Todays catch was due to the 7 gram, Smelt, Tequilla Sunrise, and Bon bon, and then the 20 gram deap diver Speckled Hen and the 26 gram Tequilla Sunrise. All Tazmanian Devil Lures.
The first kick off to the fishing season has started. Saturday’s trip was with 3 great guys, Chris, Danny and Dave along with me daughter Natalie. Weather was awesome and fishing was incredible. Between everyone on the boat we ended up with 123 trout with the largest being 15″ The CATCH was due to the Tazmanian Devil Lure, of coarse using #5, #4, #55 and Y82.
If you are ready to become a trout slayer, book now or you can also get some the these incredible lures on my store Larson’s Lucky Lures. See the lures that were used below.
Today was another Epic day of Colorado fishing. Caught 121 trout in 4 1/2 hours and all caught on the 7 gram Tazmanian Devil Lure-Y82 Canberra killer pattern and my buddy used the #55 Pink panther following me behind at 110 trout. So between both of us we did 231 trout. That is crazy fishing there.
I am now at a new personal record for a day of fishing, actually a 1/2 day fishing. So anyone wanting to try and beat my record, let me know and I will help you. Ill be your personal Colorado Fishing Guide!
Here is the update for a couple of the lakes and the conditions. Eleven mile was 50% open couple days ago but think with the wind it has greatly improved. Boats are still not allowed on because ice is shifting around lake, but think within the next week or less. Great video showing the ice shifting.
Many lakes are getting soft and opening in inlets with slushy conditions. Please be careful if you are still ice fishing as the edges are the first to open up.
Tips and Tricks #1 “Should I hire a fishing guide or not?”
This is a question many people ask and here is a couple things that may help. First thing to ask yourself, “Is my goal to catch fish or just to enjoy a day outside?” Second, “How much time do I have to fish and learn the area?”
A good thing about hiring a professional colorado fishing guide for either your home area or when you are traveling, is they know the area. Fishing guides should have a deeper knowledge of the area and where the fish like to hang out. Whether from river or lake, shore or boat, they are the “Go to” guys to get you fish! Many guides will share their secrets of how to catch fish and give you pointers so you can become a better fisherman no matter where you go.
Now, how much TIME do you have? Do you have the time to go fishing several times a week to learn the ins-and-outs of that particular lake or stretch of river? If not, then I highly recommend a guide.
So is it worth it to spend the money for a guide? I hope this short overview will help with that answer. But whatever you decide, just get out there and fish!
What a beautiful day today. Nice enough I had to go out fishing for a little bit this evening. Used the smelt pattern of the “Taz” Caught 72 more trout. I have never fished in a barrel before but think this is about as close as I can get. 267 trout and I have not even got the boat out yet, This year should blow away all the previous records.
Now is the time to call me if you are ready to go out and catch a lot of fish. Shoreline fishing is $250 for 1 or $325 for 2 for a 4 hour trip. Reserve your spot now while the fishing is so great.
Went up to Georgetown Lake today with a friend for about 3 hours and caught 33 Brown and Rainbow Trout ranging from 12″-17″. Georgetown iced up again from yesterdays snow but the wind helped open it up after a bit so we could get the lines wet. Then I hit Evergreen Lake for an hour on the way home and caught another 13 trout. Todays count 45 trout and my personal count is 195. Did I mention I love fishing. Todays catch was due to the Tasmanian Devil Lure, Smelt and Tequila Sunrise patterns.
